Given the fact he’s a competitor, you get the sense Daccord is the kind of guy who will work his way up and have the opportunity to push for a job with the Kraken sooner rather than later. There are people around the league that aren’t convinced Driedger is the real deal even after all his success in Florida last year.
He’s only played 38 games in his NHL career which means Driedger isn’t arriving with a whole bunch of NHL experience.
Daccord is taking this move in stride. His father Brian, a goalie guru and a former consultant for the Arizona Coyotes, has told his son to welcome the new challenge with open arms.
“One thing my dad and I talked a lot about when I was growing up was about going to a place where you’re wanted,” Daccord said. “A lot of time if you force something, or force a situation, it usually doesn’t work out in your favour. (The Kraken) wanting me shows they believe in me, they trust me and they want me in the organization.
“I’m very grateful for that and I’m very hopeful I can prove them right.”
